I'm a Barbie Girl!

I don’t know about you, but I am definitely a “Barbie Girl”. I am not certain how old I was when I got my first Barbie, it must have been when I was 3 or so, and I have loved playing with my Barbies ever since. I have two older sisters and they loved Barbie too. As they got older and stopped playing with their dolls, I got to add them to my collection of dolls, which ended up being A LOT of Barbies. I had enough to create my own Barbie town. My friends loved coming over to play because I had such a variety of Barbies to play with. I not only had the dolls, but I had the accessories, the playsets, and Barbie cars.

One Christmas, my PawPaw made us a Barbie house out of real wood! It was a 2 story house, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, living room & kitchen. The kitchen even had a built-in cabinet! It was truly a Barbie Dream Home!

My dolls were active, I took them everywhere with me. I recall taking them camping along with their blow-up tent and Barbie Jeep. This was in the early 80’s…my mom let me use her 110 Camera, so I took LOTS of pictures of my Barbies…a month later my mom got the film developed…she starts looking through the pictures and said “We got someone else’s pictures, I don’t know who any of these people are!”.... They were my Barbie dolls!

Flash forward to 2003 and I have my own little girl, Jolene, to introduce Barbie to. I think I was more excited than she was! She grew to love Barbie too, and we enjoyed countless hours fixing their hair, dressing them up and setting up the Barbie town. My daughter is 20 now, so all the Barbies are tucked away in a big pink tote in storage. I may or may not want to get them out now and style them....

Flash forward again to last week, I decided I would buy a Barbie house from Goodwill and “flip” like the guys at the office do and then talk about the changes I made for our weekly YouTube Flip video. Jeremy & Daniel were on board, so off to Goodwill I went! After looking in various thrift shops and 2 Goodwills, I found one, a “Barbie Townhouse”, in decent condition for $5.49. After a quick Google search, I learned that this house is currently on the market for $99 -$153! What a deal!

With craft acrylic paint, scrapbook papers, and doll furniture bought at the Dollar Tree, I turned this plain townhouse into a modern home Barbie would be proud of! I really enjoyed “flipping” this doll house, it was super easy. If you are interested in a doll house DIY, there are many tutorial videos on YouTube and Pinterest. I watched a few of My Froggy Stuff videos to get some ideas.

In the spirit of the new Barbie Movie coming out, we decided to join in on the Barbie fun! Watch as we walk you through the BARBIE TOWNHOUSE FLIP! See the before & after in 1 episode! Be sure to check it out.
