Business Books Can Benefit Your Business and You

Updated: Aug 10

Where To Start?

Don't know where to start? Write a list of things that you want to know more about, a list of your weaknesses, & a list of things that you can improve upon. Next, from those lists, group like subjects together and start with the most important topic and look for books about that topic. Goodreads is a great place to start. Goodreads allows you to make a list of books you want to read, have read, and are currently reading. Before you  buy, you can read reviews, then make a decision if the book is for you are not. Then, after you are finished reading a book, you can write your own reviews as well. Now that you know where to start, it is time to start reading! Office Book Club

Here at Summit Cove Realty, we are starting up our own monthly Office Book Club. After we read the same book, then we will discuss it at the end of the month. According to EngagementMultiplier  the "Top 5 Benefits of an Office Book Club (from an Engaged Leader’s perspective)" are:

  1. The open, free-flowing nature of a book club increases trust and transparency among team members, which strengthens their bonds and contributes to a strong culture.

  2. Not only do you learn something new from the book itself, you also learn about the people within your organization. Discussing a book together gives you the opportunity to get to know your employees in a very unique way.

  3. When you embark on a journey to learn something new together, you learn even more from what your employees and colleagues found to be insightful in the material. Not only might they see something you missed, but you also get a glimpse into how they perceive the business and gauge what’s important.

  4. With your post-book-club insights, when you allow your team to implement the insights, it creates a greater sense of ownership and team spirit.

  5. Running a Book Club is a great tactic in fostering an environment of personal and professional development, you’ll grow and build a strong, cohesive culture. As you can see, there are great benefits to having an office book club. To read the remaining list of benefits, check out the entire article from Engagement Multiplier.
